TestFlight
TestFlight is Apple's official app for distributing beta builds of your iOS app to testers before you submit it to the App Store. You upload a build from App Store Connect, invite testers by email or a public link, and they install and run your real app on their own iPhones. TestFlight is how you catch crashes, confirm the paywall works, and get feedback before Apple's review sees it. Getting a build onto TestFlight and running it on a real device is one of the first milestones every new iOS builder should hit.
TestFlight is Apple's official beta-testing service, and it is one of the most useful tools a new iOS builder can learn early. It lets you distribute a real build of your app to testers - yourself, friends, or a wider group - so they can install and run it on their own iPhones before it ever reaches the App Store. When you have a build on TestFlight, development stops being an abstraction on your laptop and becomes a real app in real hands, on real devices, where the bugs actually show up.
The reason TestFlight matters is the gap between the simulator and reality. An app can run perfectly in a development preview and still crash on a real phone, fail on a slow network, or break on a screen size you never tested. A subtle bug in the paywall or a broken sign-in flow looks fine to you and fatal to a reviewer. TestFlight is the bridge between what you think your app does and what it actually does in someone's pocket. Catching those issues in a beta build is far cheaper than catching them in an Apple rejection.
The mistake new builders make is skipping the beta and submitting the first build they get working. That is not how shipped apps get made. Get a build onto TestFlight, install it on your own device, and run every screen - onboarding, the core feature, the paywall, restore purchases - before you ever submit. With Expo and EAS you can produce a TestFlight-ready build without a Mac, upload it to App Store Connect, and invite testers in minutes.
